Ethan Mahanke, a senior at Bakersfield Liberty High in California, won the boys 400 meters in a program-record 48.30 seconds at the Gateway to Track and Field Invitational at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. Mahanke also led Liberty to another program record 41.76 to win the 4x100-meter relay. He also contributed to a runner-up performance in the 4x400-meter relay in 3:21.19 and took third in the 200 meters in a personal-best 21.81.
